Posted by Federal University Gusau administration in Zamfara State has pleaded with the government to free the 12 female students held captive as soon as possible.
School administrators have called on the government and security forces to step up their efforts to end the spate of abductions that have recently occurred.
This was said by Dr. Lawal Saad, the University’s Dean of Students Affairs, at a meeting with Sunday Adebayo, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement on Safe School Initiatives, in Gusau, the capital of the state.
Saad went on to say that seven armed kidnappings occurred on campus between April 2023 and January 2024.
Honorable Wadatua Madawaki, state commissioner for education, science, and technology, as well as NANS delegates, government officials, and security agencies, were present at the meeting.
In order to make schools safer places for everyone, they got together to think of ways to secure them.
Adedayo vowed that the Tinubu-led government would not rest until the twelve female students from Gusau’s Federal University were freed.
He begged their parents and the Federal University administration to keep their cool because the government was keeping a close eye on the situation.
In his speech, Madawaki emphasized the State government’s resolve to work with the federal government to eradicate school kidnappings and create a safe space for children and teachers to learn.
Nonetheless, they applauded the security forces’ efforts to combat insecurity and urged them to step up their game in order to put an end to the heinous practice of kidnapping at schools, which instills dread and hinders pupils’ ability to learn.
