After state governor Ahmed Aliyu brought up the matter during an official visit to his office, the minister of power, Adelabu Adebayo, recently made the assurance.
In order to restore power in the impacted regions, a team from the Ministry of Power was sent out after the minister’s promise.
During the assessment exercise over the weekend in Sokoto, Mustafa Baba Umarah, director of distribution at the federal ministry of power, explained that a government team would investigate the root causes of the blackout in the impacted areas and provide a report with recommendations on how to proceed.
He promised that the government will work to make sure that every Nigerian, no matter where they live, had access to power.
Sanusi Dan Fulani, the state’s commissioner for energy, said that the restoration of power in the impacted regions is in line with the administration’s aim to boost economic activity, especially in rural areas, under Governor Aliyu.
The commissioner emphasized the need for reliable power in the state’s eastern region, sometimes called the food basket, for the advancement of society.
To make sure the restoration project was a success, he asked the communities who would be benefiting from it to rally behind it.
The eight LGAs that have been designated for reconnection to the national grid are Isa, Sabon Birni, Goronyo, Wurno, Rabah, Gada, Illela, and Gwadabawa, he said.
