Posted by Contrary to what some have said, Mr. Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, was not threatened with incarceration, according to the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
This was announced on Friday by Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the factional secretary-general of Ohanaeze.
He condemned as unfounded the egregious accusations leveled against the federal government’s Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road project and urged Obi and David Umahi, the minister of works, to have a conversation with each other.
The statement from Ohanaeze states that the group “dismisses speculations of impending arrest of Mr. Obi as specious fabrications generated by malevolent instigators aiming to disrupt the great job being carried out under Senator Umahi’s dedicated guidance as the minister.” ”
Statement goes on to condemn “unwarranted vilification targeted at Senator Dave Umahi by Peter Obi and others” and stresses the need for private and diplomatic engagement rather than public confrontations that could slow down infrastructure development in the Southeastern United States and the country as a whole.
The two former governors should engage in “respectful dialogue and collaboration,” Ohanaeze said once again.
In a recent statement, Obi blasted the federal government for demolishing taxpayer-owned buildings along the path.
