Senator Godswill Akpabio, who serves as president of the Senate, has promised that the rights of Nigerian journalists will be safeguarded.

He made the claim in a statement released in honor of the 2024 World Press Freedom Day by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Hon. Eseme Eyiboh.

He extended congratulations to all members of the media, particularly those who have risked their lives to protect the truth and justice, on behalf of the Senate and the National Assembly.

“The tenth national assembly will not tolerate any action that might violate the rights of journalists, and we are dedicated to doing all that can help improve press freedom.”

The congressman also pressed the media to actively work toward educating the public and establishing a climate change agenda.
