Posted by The ruling in the case brought by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and its candidate for governor, Murtala Ajaka, against the election win of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor Usman Ododo has been reserved by the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which is sitting in Abuja.
In Monday’s proceedings, Ododo, the APC, INEC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) all asked the court to reject Ajaka’s petition on the grounds that it was unfounded and submitted by an incompetent individual.
This was also stated when they adopted their final written speeches by their attorneys, Kanu Agabi, Joseph Daudu, and Emmanuel Ukala.
However, Pius Akubo, who represented Ajaka, urged the tribunal to reject Ododo’s arguments and instead accept their own.
The tribunal presided over by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu heard arguments from all sides and will inform them of a date when they might expect a ruling.
According to LEAKNEWS, Ododo was proclaimed the victor of the hotly contested Kogi State Governorship Election on November 11, 2023, by INEC.
Ododo defeated his nearest opponent, SDP candidate Ajaka, with 446,237 votes; Dino Melaye of the PDP received 46,362 votes.
