All medical outreach by any unnamed NGO or individual organization has been suspended by Dr. Aisha Anka, the Zamfara State Commissioner for Health.

The Commissioner voiced grave alarm over reports of unnamed persons and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) engaging in medical outreach without proper authorization from the ministry.

Anka reportedly made the remarks at her office while meeting with directors and other senior officials of the ministry, according to a statement released by the ministry’s spokesman, Comrade Ibrahim Bello Boko.

All necessary steps have been taken to address the dire health problems in the state after Executive Governor Dauda Lawal announced a state of emergency in the health sector.

Any group or person wishing to aid the state is encouraging, but they must adhere to the proper channels.

“The State government is quick to accept and welcome any organization that is prepared to back the State government in that endeavor, but there are certain protocols that must be observed,” the commissioner reportedly stated.
