If Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are drawn, Anthony Joshua will fight the victor

Anthony Joshua’s potential bout with the heavyweight champion will be “accepted” by the World Boxing Council, according to President Mauricio Sulaiman. Fury and Usyk are currently battling it out for the title.

On May 18 in Saudi Arabia, Fury and Usyk will fight it out for the belts.

It is widely anticipated that the two fighters will rematch later this year.

After last weekend’s dramatic knockout victory against Francis Ngannou—a former UFC heavyweight champion—Joshua Joshua will be waiting for the victor.

A sanction request to fight for the undisputed was made to the WBC. Sulaiman informed Sky Sports that the WBC had approved the rematch request, and that they had also accepted the sanctioning.

If it has nothing to do with promotions or contracts, though, we would gladly let the victor face Joshua.

“At this time, the WBC is willing to back the undefeated champion in any fight the fans desire to see.”
