Posted by Abdul Ningi, a senator from Bauchi Central, is charged by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele of trying to assassinate Godswill Akpabio, the president of the Senate.
In response to Ningi’s accusation that the Senate inflated the 2024 Appropriation bill, Bamidele made the assertions.
While speaking on the Senate floor, Bamidele and a handful other senators made a solemn commitment to never let Akpabio serve as Senate President for even a single year.
The plan Ningi had in mind was basically a failed civilian coup, he claimed.
There must be an end to the effort to extend the tenure of this Senate beyond June 13. A total of sixty senators supported Akpabio, while forty cast their votes against him.
After that, though, Akpabio rose to his feet and urged his fellow senators to cooperate. For us to have a stable Senate, this is a defining moment.
The Senate’s reputation is at stake, not the North or the South.
“The small group of senators who refuse to grant you a second term are actively working to have you removed from office before June,” the president said.
