The heist at Anyigba Banks and the assault on the police station have been officially confirmed by the Kogi State Police Command.

According to the IBOMLEAKNEWS, a police officer and a civilian were killed on Thursday when gunmen stormed two commercial banks in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The assaults on the town’s banks and police station apparently resulted in random gunfire, and an undisclosed sum of money was stolen.

In a statement released on Friday night, SP Williams Ovye, the public relations officer of the Kogi State Police, confirmed the attacks and the loss of one officer.

He asserted that CP Bethrand C. Onuoha, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, paid a site visit on Friday to conduct an on-the-spot assessment and promised that the criminals would be caught.

In a joint effort with other security agencies, the CP reportedly also directed the deployment of Tactical Teams consisting of PMF Personnel, Counter Terrorism, Quick Response, and Intelligence Units in order to bring the area back to normalcy.

Before the reinforced Team arrived and the assailants escaped, one police constable paid the ultimate price during the gun battle with the criminals.

“The safety and security of all and sundry in Kogi State is our utmost priority, and the Commissioner of Police wants you to know that the Command is fully committed to working together with other security agencies and patriotic stakeholders to make that happen,” the statement continued.
