Eleven persons, including a pregnant mother, were slain in Ole’Adag’aklo village in Benue State’s Usha Council Ward of Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) by unidentified gunmen.

On Sunday night, gunmen allegedly assaulted the community, murdering 11 people and kidnapping many more. Locals said the violence continued throughout the night.

On Monday, the incidence was reported to newsmen by Yakubu Ochepo, the chairman of the Agatu Local Government Area.

Eleven persons lost their lives. Seven bodies have been found out of the total. The bodies of five young people, an old man, and a pregnant lady have been found. The last four bodies have been located by the military.

The soldiers’ mission was to retrieve the bodies. The armed herdsmen bolted for cover as soon as bullets rang out.

On my way to report to Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), I’m now in Makurdi. One more person can help. We have it on good authority that they tossed some into the river and simultaneously rescued others.

State police spokesman SP Catherine Anene denied knowledge of the event when questioned.
