Celta Vigo have fired Rafa Benitez, their manager of less than a year.
This follows Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Real Madrid by Celta Vigo.
As a result of the game, Celta Vigo are now just one point and one position above the relegation zone in La Liga.
While managing Celta Vigo, Benitez managed just five victories out of 28 league matches.
The 63-year-old was nominated in the summer of last year.
Upon Benitez’s departure, Celta released a statement expressing their gratitude.
Their “honesty and professionalism” were also lauded by the Spanish club while they were there.
Real Madrid, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle United are among Benitez’s former coaching clients.
