Oshiomhole: Senate stripped of its N3.7trn budget padding

On Tuesday, Adams Oshiomhole, a senator from Edo North, condemned the budget padding accusation that has shaken the Senate.

The Senate has been exposed in the marketplace, according to Oshiomhole.

As part of the Senate floor debate on Abdul Ningi’s N3.7 trillion budget accusation, he spoke. Ningi is the senator representing Bauchi Central.

Despite the federal government’s implementation of a budget of N28.7 trillion, Ningi, chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, claimed that the National Assembly debated and enacted a budget of N25 trillion for 2024.

At the time of the accusation, he was speaking to the BBC Hausa Service.

“We can’t now wrap it up like it’s nothing,” says Oshiomhole, after being “bared naked” in the marketplace.

I believe he can still fix it after admitting that something went wrong since he has made credible contributions to this Senate.

What was the approved amount in the Appropriation Bill? If someone said N25 billion, then it must have been a typo because someone else said N28 billion.

Falsehoods must be maintained in order to counter falsehoods, which is the main issue in attempting to defend a lie.

“Ningi owes it to his kids to put an end to the rumor mill and stop being that guy who says things that don’t add up.”
