Lookman receives praise from Atalanta boss for his aggressive performance

Gian Piero Gasperini, manager of Atalanta, has stated that Ademola Lookman has improved as a player since his arrival.

After joining the Gewiss Stadium from Bundesliga club RB Leipzig two years ago, Lookman is now in his second season there.

In 31 league appearances last season, the 26-year-old scored 13 goals and added 3 assists, making him La Dea’s leading scorer.

Eight goals and three assists have been tallied by the Nigerian international in 21 league matches played thus far this season.

Gasperini wasted no time in praising the winger for his improved performance.

“We must acknowledge that Lookman did not play offensively in the past, but we can all see his potential and speed,” Gasperini told Pazzi di Fanta.

While he is now swift, excellent with the ball, and powerful with his head, he used to score six or seven goals annually. He tries to avoid the game every once in a while, but I think he has what it takes to be a key player for our squad if he gets closer to the action.

On Wednesday night, Lookman played the whole match for Atalanta in their Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon of Portugal.

His goal-scoring drought in 19 European games spans his stints with Leicester City and RB Leipzig.
