After Jose Peseiro resigned as coach of the Super Eagles last month, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) began searching for a replacement.
After last week’s announcement of the position’s vacancy, the NFF allegedly got applications from both local and expatriate coaches.
Still, Nsien has made his case for being the Super Eagles’ next head coach, claiming he is qualified for the position.
“I am the finest of both worlds,” Nsien stated during an interview with TVC.
“The Super Eagles are a team that I’m very passionate about, and as a Nigerian-American, I’m well-aware of the obligations that come with being head coach.
Working in an environment that invests heavily in technology, has a top-notch scouting infrastructure, and fosters collaboration from all levels of coaching is something I’m familiar with.
I am aware of the current state of Nigerian football and the distance that separates us. I can be the connecting link that gets us to where we should be on the world football stage. Now is the moment to turn around and go ahead. My goal is to make our people happy.
The United States U-19 team is presently being coached by the 43-year-old.
Even at the U-23 level, the defender had a stint with Nigeria.
He competed for his country in the under-23 squad that did not make it to the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
