Posted by Awka South LGA citizens have been urged by Senator Victor Umeh, who represents the Anambra Central Senatorial District, to unite and put a stop to the disturbing cult activities and related crimes plaguing their community.
At a security symposium in Awka City organized by Henry Mbachu, a lawmaker for the Awka South 1 Constituency in Anambra State, Umeh made the statement, claiming that the Igbo people are not notorious for squandering human lives.
The congressman lamented that the ongoing instability in the capital city of Awka was preventing its growth, even if the Government House and other institutions were located there.
Since January 2024, in Awka, at least forty people have been killed in cult-related homicides.
Umeh argues that everyone should be concerned about security as it impacts people’s social and economic lives.
Every town that becomes the capital of a state is blessed, he added, and Awka is no exception. I beg you, protect your property so that locals and visitors alike can live well and prosper.
If you want everyone to come and invest, you have to do Awka properly. “Investors are wary of risky environments,” Umeh stated.
