Real Madrid star will not be awarded the Ballon d’Or, according to Ancelotti

Midfielder Toni Kroos will not be the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner, according to Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

If Kroos wins the Champions League and Euro 2024 this summer, he might challenge for the Ballon d’Or, according to Ancelotti, who said he would want to see Kroos win the trophy.

There may be a genuine chance for someone else to take the trophy, as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are now playing their game outside of Europe.

This season, Kroos has been Real Madrid’s shining star.

On Tuesday night, the 34-year-old helped Madrid to a 5-0 victory over Alaves.

“The former Bayern Munich star could win the Ballon d’Or,” Ancelotti stated (via @MadridXtra) when asked about the possibility:

“Kroos to win Ballon d’Or?” Despite my preference, he will not be the winner. Then then, anything might happen.

If Germany and France win the European Championship this summer, he will have a shot at winning the Ballon d’Or.
