This summer, Arsenal is getting close to acquiring Riccardo Calafiori, a defender for Bologna.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that the Premier League North London team and Bologna are expected to reach an agreement wherein the latter would need to pay a transfer price of about £42 million in order to recruit the 22-year-old.

The article also stated that the Gunners are in the lead to recruit the Italian, ahead of Chelsea and Juventus.

In related news, midfielder Melanie Leupolz has left Chelsea’s women’s squad to play for Real Madrid in Spain, following four trophy-filled seasons.

Leupolz, 30, became a dependable presence in Chelsea’s midfield after signing for the Blues in March 2020.

Chelsea announced this on their website on Wednesday through a statement.

The international player for Germany was included in the team for the 2023 World Cup.

After the competition, she gave up playing football for her country.

“We at Chelsea would like to express our gratitude to Melly for her invaluable contribution to our team’s success over the past four years.” Part of Chelsea’s statement said, “We wish the best for her and her family as they begin a new chapter.”
