After striking out at Brighton striker Joao Pedro, James received a straight red card.
Mail Sport was able to get a synopsis of the club’s and player’s evidence from the FA’s appeal papers.
Pedro “made contact” as he went by, which allegedly left James “disoriented.” The report goes on to say that “It had not been his intention to harm Mr. Pedro, he was simply pushing him away with his foot.”
The independent regulatory commission of the FA rejected this argument without a single vote.
Since this is James’s second red card of the season, he will now serve the remaining two games of his four-game suspension.
This means that the 24-year-old will sit out Chelsea’s first three games of the 2024/2025 season, in addition to their last game against Bournemouth.
