A front line Aspirant for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District in the 2023 general election, Rt.Hon. (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo has been described as the most suitable aspirant to represent the area in the senate in 2023.
The national coordinator Media Professionals for Good Governance (MPGG) Comrade Franklin Okon who gave the hint during a chat with newsmen in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital over the weekend noted that a careful look at his antecedents would reveal that he has been well and properly equipped for a higher legislative responsibility.
Okon pointed out that his years in the National Assembly between 2007 and 2011 brought a new lease of life for the people of Abak federal Constituency, as evidently reflected in various life-touching programmes and projects which he initiated across the constituency, stressing that his immense contributions to the passage of some critical Bills into law during the said period was not in doubt.
His words, “I may not be able to completely state all Obongemem Ekpo did legislatively in the House of Representatives here but the records are there. You know, as a parliamentarian, his core function was to make laws for the people and also attract life touching projects which he did satisfactorily”.
According to him, “the reason we have decided to support Ekpo to represent the people of Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly is that he has a lot to offer as far legislative business is concerned.
Ekpo had earlier performed very well in the Executive position as Executive Chairman of IKA council area and further cut his teeth in the legislature in the House of Reps.
“His Legislative performance is second to none and he is a round peg in a round hole. We are supporting him to go higher for what he did in the House of Representatives, people like him should be encouraged to go higher and higher”.
“Having done exceedingly well in the House of Representatives, the next stage for him is the senate, he will best function in the Senate. It’s still the same thing, just that one is the lower while the other is the higher, but they are doing just about the same thing- law making”.
The MPGG Coordinator therefore appealed to stakeholders as well as the people of Ikot ekpene Senatorial District to shun sentiments and give Ekperikpe Ekpo the needed support that will see him through the party primaries and the general elections to enable him achieve set goals.
According to Okon” Democracy allows for mass participation in choosing quality leaders, you own your minds and conscience and you are the one to take your decisions devoid of any external or materialistic influence, Ekperikpe is a very passionate about peoples welfare and also a well groomed administrator”.
“He will readily deploy his wealth of experience to change the fortunes of our people for the best once elected as our Senator” He further highlighted.
